Fraternal Souls Sing Identical Things: Letters of TLOAS

3 Personas:

Taylor tells us to pay attention to the three different personas and pens:

Hold up-Let’s step into biology/genetics for just a sec:

Trizygotic or fraternal triplets are formed when 3 separate eggs are fertilized

by 3 separate sperm. Fraternal triplets do not share an amniotic sac or placenta.

They are 3 entirely separate and unique little pregnancies.

Because of this, they will be enclosed in their own sacs

and have their own umbilical cords and placentas.

Fraternal triplets are more common than identical or monozygotic triplets.

Around 80% or more of triplets are the fraternal variety.

The babies can be the same or opposite genders.

This means that it’s possible to have any one of the following combinations of babies:

3 girls, 3 boys, 1 girl and 2 boys, or 2 girls and 1 boy.

In terms of similarity, fraternal triplets are no more alike than siblings

who have the same biological parents.

It can be relatively easy to differentiate each individual baby’s personality

and temperament from the start.

Just to establish that fraternal souls don’t just mean twins,

and they are separate in characteristics, traits, personality, sex,

but share the commonality of the same womb

(and perhaps parents/upbringing) nurture.

The above letter lists these 3 words:

********************************************************************************************

All these lives converge. Fraternal souls sing identical things.

  • It’s beautiful (Gorgeous, Problem-Taylor with her glitter pen)

  • it’s rapturous (Big-Taylor who is larger than life with her detailed fountain pen)

  • it’s frightening (Haunted-Taylor writing about her ghosts & fears with a  quill pen).

**********************************************************************************************

The other letters/poems show each persona’s different perspective:

Eyelash glue, red high heels strutting.

Boy-crazy, centering men in her curated performance.

Majestic, hiding that she is balancing on blistered feet

with rehearsed genuineness.

The winks cover up the drums of fear and pain in the distance.

Problem-Taylor is sparkly, yet cynical. She strives to be perfect, look attractive and happy.

Yet she’s angry too. The crowd asks for too much. She’s tired of making everything seem like magic.

 The next letter:

Remembering a time before all of this.

Remembering that little girl she used to be,

the ambitious teen.

Now it’s all remembering details of choreography

in dance and life.

If Big-Taylor steps out of line, the crowd turns,

but mostly she aligns with her practiced footwork.

She must remember the crowd most of all–they are her overlord.

Big-Taylor, who is super-famous and pleases everyone in order to hide her real self,

is ruled by the crowd. She writes details and memories with her fountain pen.

Lastly, Haunted-Taylor is afraid.

People have hated Haunted-Taylor.

She fears they will despise her again.

The crowd is fickle.

Hero today, but look closely and find every flaw.

She has to avoid the game by living by a strict code.

She keeps herself busy

to opt–out of the magnifying glass

yet amplify her merits–writing with her quill pen.

Haunted-Taylor’s ghosts come in the form of exes, foes, trauma, herself, her queerness.

She keeps herself so busy writing so she doesn’t have to engage with the nit-picking.

She has to adhere strictly to the personas because when she is dissected, she gets burned.

It’s a losing game trying to remain a hero.

Especially when a certain secret threatens to hatch from the egg.
