Comfort Amongst the Chaos [TS: Perspectives Albums 10/11/12]

I'm Testing out this theory that there is a song in each of the 'Multiple Taylor's Series' that talks about the same situation from each different perspective. We're remembering the physical portrayals from the Anti-Hero music video that gave us the map to Taylor's plan of introducing each persona. See my other posts about it:

Obviously not every song has a 1:1:1 match, because the tracklists are different lengths. But I thought it would be a fun exercise none-the-less, and might be enlightening.

I can never decide if these songs are authentically about Taylor's beards, her mom, or a secret lover. But they all have the same vibe of a sweet and quiet someone who loves Taylor unconditionally and is a stabilizing force despite career, fame, and industry pressures.

In Midnights album 10, Giant Taylor is too soft for all of it. She is thankful for this peaceful person humming in the kitchen while the industry schemers wreck havoc. And she likes that this person expects nothing from her.

In TTPD album 11, Poet Taylor sees this gentle person as a kindred spirit. They both chose the lifestyle of a celebrity, and are both crazy and self-sabotaging in the same way.  Taylor can read this person and wants to hold them.

In TLOAS album 12, Showgirl Taylor Is shocked at this person's earnestness compared to others hiding their disapproval in a superficial layer of saccharine. She appreciates this person's honesty, loyalty, and awe of her. She wants to keep them as her forever night stand.

Honestly, I can still read each of these as Taylor being thankful for her current beard: Joe, Matty, Travis, OR her mom. Joe was private and calm, and seemed indifferent to the fame (and Taylor if the hand-holding is any indication). Matty has his own career and fanbase, and has to deal with that similar to how she does (MUCH lessor extent). And he has been (allegedly) Taylor's loyal friend for many years. And Travis seems like a say-what-you-mean kind of dude from the little I know about him. He definitely seems supportive of Taylor and doesn't mind (hungers for) the fame/celebrity.

But--if I was Taylor writing in braid, using subtext, weaving stories, I might thank my mom for her unwavering support. We can place Andrea literally in Taylor's kitchen. And she supports Taylor's decisions, without expecting anything in return. And (hear me out) Andrea is not an artist or celebrity herself, but when her daughter became famous, she, Andrea was also in the spotlight. She has been seen, scrutinized, and has to literally deal with media and fans. And Taylor keeps holding on to her, at home, on the road. And as we heard from Opalite, Andrea is by Taylor's side, talking her down, giving advise. Andrea is complementary and supportive, maybe even in awe of all she's accomplished. A proud mother. I'm not saying they slept together-weird! Gross! But maybe a swirl of poem or metaphor for Taylor's mom being someone she can count on who she wants around all her days (and nights).

I think both work.
