My Blog is Held Hostage!

 There is going to be a blogging pause because I can’t make the posts that I’m trying to make.

I tried just posting to Tumblr (where this blog has always been cross-posted) to see if I like it. I didn’t really, because it was very basic, and I want more customizations.

I have a conundrum. I finally figured out why I’m having an image problem on WordPress, no thanks to WordPress. I ran out of storage for the free version. Not that they told me that. And I’m not sure I want to pay $48/yr to get 3 more GB (though that did last 9 years and 2K posts). I never really liked WordPress, but once so many posts are anywhere it becomes a hassle to move. Images are a deal-breaker though. I MUST HAVE THEM!

And I’m mad that WordPress didn’t send an email or put an error–like hey you ran out. It just gave me some sizing error that I knew was wrong. And I’m also mad that when I tried to reach out for help, you can’t get IT help. Like, at all. So I’m not in love with that.

But also, moving 2K posts anywhere sounds like a whole big thing, and I’m not even sure what platform would be best to move my blog to… I like that WordPress boosts my post in the search engines for free, and without my intervention. And ability to cross-post to different social media/blogging sites. And scheduling posts for the future. I guess that’s where the pros of staying end.

I would love a more user-friendly experience. I need to be able to make text colored or put a background color in the posts. I also want a categorization system, and tagging. I’ll need to keep my category tabs right on the main page.

• I will need to be able to customize my banner and menus.
• Show the popular posts in the sidebar.
• Show a calendar of recent posts.

And pictures. I still need to be able to include a lot of pics.

ok, I tried to upload pics on Blogger.com and it was pretty slow.  But I also read they provide unlimited storage.  So I'll never run into this problem again!

Anyone know of a good blogging/website platform that might have all of that. And be easy to transfer my posts into? For free, obviously. Or like maybe $30 a year or less if that’s an impossible request.

I’m not sure I like just Tumblr because this is pretty basic, but I do see it frequently saving, and I did get a pic in here. I’ll have to think about it.
