Oh oh oh oh, oh my Lord
Never made no one like you before
This text is still in black, so you know it’s Andrea. But she confirms it by saying Never MADE no one like you before. Because Taylor came from her mom’s body. This part is still in Taylor’s mom’s voice.
You had to make your own sunshine
Sunshine has been in Taylor’s catalog a lot. But it was arguably in the Lover Era a LOT. She even almost named the album ‘Daylight’ (which would have paired nicer with Midnights) but changed it.
Taylor mentions her song ‘You Need to Calm Down’ specifically in this name-change decision. Let’s look at the video for You Need to Calm Down. It is chalk full of queer people, first of all. Taylor is centered and her hair is blue, pink, and purple, bisexual flag colors.
In the following picture, the queers are on the INSIDE of the gay trailer park, and the straights are OUTSIDE. Taylor put herself in with the LGBTQ group.
The video was Taylor trying to come out.
Further evidence, Taylor was orchestrating a historical coming out moment is the involvement of Ellen DeGeneres. Inviting Ellen to participate is important, because it was historical when Ellen came out in her show.
Ask yourself, why would all of these LGBTQ people participate in the video if Taylor was just using them? Not ONE person took her aside and said she’s crossed the line into appropriation?
We have a spilling the tea reference:
Inez was over here spilling the tea in Betty. And Taylor admits–it was true.
And what does “Inez” conveniently rhyme with???
Perez.
Perez Hilton, infamous for outing celebrities.
Who else spills tea about Taylor?
There was a theory that Christian Sirino designed this rainbow dress for Taylor to come out. And on the video of that theory the designer himself, dueted drinking tea. Confirming the theory. It’s huge evidence. Also, every year since, Siriano throws shade at Taylor about forfeiting the dress.
Stonewall is the historical gay event. And that June, Pride month, Taylor performed there.
And the atmosphere on the set of YNTCD was like a party. I mean, the gays do make it a party wherever they are, but the vibe was decidedly celebratory.
“It’s so exciting–I’m so happy to be a part of it. Haylie K
Taylor tells Todrick “...everything I’ve ever wanted”
Todrick says, “… Came out of my mom’s body, came out of the closet and now I feel… like this is my 3rd coming out.”
A champagne toast? What are we doing here? This is all for a music video, or no?

And there was an after-party. This is all for a music video shoot, guys. Annnnd?
But, alas, people could not see Taylor Swift (remember the not seeing for lyrics coming up), ‘the straightest woman alive’ as queer:
Taylor had to pivot when her masters were sold to a hater. She always wanted to own her masters free and clear. Coming out would be controversial to some. She would lose fans, lose the ability to tour in conservative, authoritarian countries. In order to buy back her masters, Taylor needed the MOST fans. She had to be the most palatable. She had to set up the biggest tour the world has ever seen in order to get that money for her masters.
So back to why Taylor might have changed the name of her 7th album from ‘Daylight’ to ‘Lover’.
If she backs out of coming out, the metaphor of coming out of the woods, out of the closet into the gold, sunshine doesn’t make sense. If she’s still in the woods/closet, it’s not daylight after all.
I’m really trying to drive home the point that the Lover Era was supposed to be Taylor’s big coming out moment, that got foiled by the MastersHeist.
Applicable Daylight Lyrics:
My love was as cruel as the cities I lived in
Why is love cruel?
There’s those rumors again… About switching sides in love. Like, not straight. Switched from guys to gals.
Further evidence of gay love:
Rainbow. That’s queer love.
Daylight continues:
…I'll tell you the truth, but never goodbye
…I've been sleeping so long in a 20-year dark night
The closet. Repression.
And now I see daylight, I only see daylight
She came out of the woods/closet/hiding and into the daylight, sunlight, truth, her queerness.
…Clearing the air, I breathed in the smoke
…it's morning now
It's brighter now, now
I don't wanna look at anything else now that I saw you
(I can never look away)
I don't wanna think of anything else now that I thought of you
(Things will never be the same)
I've been sleeping so long in a 20-year dark night
(Now I'm wide awake)
And now I see daylight (daylight), I only see daylight
…And I can still see it all (in my head)
Back and forth from New York (sneaking in your bed)
I once believed love would be (burning red)
But it's golden
Like daylight, like daylight
…(Things will never be the same)
I've been sleeping so long in a 20-year dark night
(Now I'm wide awake)
And now I see daylight (I see daylight), I only see daylight (ah)
…It's golden like daylight
You gotta step into the daylight and let it go
Come out of the closet
Just let it go, let it go
I wanna be defined by the things that I love
Not the things I hate
Not the things I'm afraid of, I'm afraid of
Not the things that haunt me in the middle of the night
I, I just think that
You are what you love
